Protecting Your Property: Taking the Proactive Approach

Many nuisance or criminal activities can be prevented by businesses and property owners taking a proactive approach to protecting private properties. Here are a few things businesses and property owners can do:

• Post signs on your property such as "No Trespassing" 
• Secure trash enclosures
• Do not leave empty cardboard boxes where they are publicly accessible
• Reduce foliage that may be used as hiding spots for people/property
• Ensure adequate lighting
• Increase presence or implement private security measures
• Do not feed or give money to non-patrons

When to Call the Code Enforcement Hotline at (760) 776-6360:

• Inhabiting of your or your neighbor's commercial property
• Abandoned shopping carts or other unclaimed property

• Drug activity or the presence of drugs or paraphernalia
• Loitering outside of establishments that sell alcohol

The Homeless Point-in-Time Count reflects a snapshot of Riverside County’s homeless population. Obtaining an accurate count of families, individuals and communities experiencing homelessness is critical to helping our communities attract state and federal funding and support local planning efforts to address a growing public health crisis.

Continuum of Care
The Housing and Workforce Solutions (HWS) Department’s CoC Division’s primary purpose is to develop and maintain an effective county-wide Continuum of Care.

The Continuum of Care oversees our community's plan to organize and deliver supportive social services, including housing options, which meet the specific needs of homeless individuals and families. Ultimately, the goal of the Continuum is to move homeless people toward stable housing and maximum self-sufficiency.

Office of Homeless Solutions
The Office of Homeless Solutions develops public and private partnerships and provides direct outreach services that coordinates services directed towards reducing and preventing homelessness by providing a wide-range of services and resources for homeless persons and increasing permanent supportive housing opportunities for very low income and long-term homeless persons to end their homelessness in the City of Riverside.

Palm Desert Cooling Centers are active from June 1 through October 15. These locations are available to help provide community members with a safe, air-conditioned space during periods of extreme heat, along with access to basic relief such as seating and cooling support. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, stay hydrated, and use these resources when temperatures rise.
