Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste makes up 29% of materials going into landfills. The City of Palm Desert is mandated by State law to help reduce the amount of this material that is hauled to landfills through the CALGreen Building Code Requirements. The City has created a process to make your compliance easy through the C&D Diversion Program and it all starts with a Construction Debris Management Plan.
A Construction Debris Management Plan (CDMP) is necessary to demonstrate compliance with State regulations for your C&D project. A CDMP ensures that C&D projects salvage, reuse, or recycle all inert solids (i.e. concrete, drywall, brick, asphalt, glass, plaster, clay, etc.), and divert at least 65% of all other debris generated by your project. This 65% diversion requirement, including 100% diversion of land clearing debris (i.e. dirt, rock, landscape material, etc.), is a mandatory requirement per the CALGreen Building Code.
