Palm Desert welcomes responsibly operated Short-Term Rentals (STRs) as part of our vibrant community. STRs give visitors the chance to enjoy our city like a local while supporting neighborhood vitality and the local economy. The City of Palm Desert defines an STR as a privately-owned residential dwelling, rented for occupancy for dwelling, lodging, or sleeping purposes for any period of twenty-seven (27) consecutive nights or less

To ensure rentals are safe and compatible with residential life, the City requires all STR operators to obtain a permit and follow local regulations. This page provides everything you need to apply, renew, and manage your STR, along with resources to help you be a good neighbor and host.
