The City imposed cannabis business-related taxes based on the type, which can also be found on the City’s Palm Desert Municipal Code Chapter 3.50 Cannabis Business Tax click here. 

• Ten dollars ($10) per square foot of space utilized in connection with cannabis cultivation businesses
• Two ($0.02) cents for each $1.00 of gross receipts for cannabis manufacturing businesses
• Five ($0.05) cents for each $1.00 of gross receipts for cannabis retail businesses

Returns and remittances are due monthly. The return shall be filed not later than the close of business on the day, that is, thirty (30) calendar days following the last day of the earlier calendar month. At the time of the tax return is filed, the full amount of the tax owed for the preceding calendar month shall be submitted to the Finance Department.
