A New Palm Desert Website: Designed With You in Mind

This update represents an important step forward in how we share information, deliver services, and connect with our community.

The City of Palm Desert is proud to introduce a redesigned City website created to better serve our community. This refreshed online experience reflects our commitment to clear communication, accessible services, and making it easier for everyone to find the information they need.

Why We Redesigned the Website
Over time, our website had grown to include hundreds of pages, making it more difficult for residents, businesses, and visitors to quickly find the information they need. This redesign gave us the opportunity to thoughtfully reduce, refresh, and reorganize content so it is clearer, more consistent, and easier to navigate.

A key goal of the new website is simplicity and accessibility. The site is now structured so that frequently used information can be found in three clicks or less, helping users get where they need to go faster and with less frustration.

In addition, this redesign ensures the City’s website meets updated accessibility standards established by the U.S. Department of Justice. These ADA requirements will apply to all municipal governments serving populations over 50,000 beginning April 24, 2026. By launching early, Palm Desert is taking a proactive approach to ensuring our digital services are accessible to everyone in our community.

What’s New
You’ll notice a cleaner layout, clearer navigation, and a more intuitive structure throughout the site. Related information is now grouped into common areas, reducing duplication and making content easier to locate.

For example, all park and trail information is now available on a single, comprehensive page, rather than being spread across 19 separate pages as it was on the former website. This approach is used throughout the site to create a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.

The new website is designed to grow with the City, allowing us to keep information current, improve clarity, and better highlight City services, programs, and projects.

A Note About Bookmarks and Links
As part of this transition, some bookmarked pages or links within older documents may no longer function as expected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we move to this improved system.
