As summer temperatures rise across the Coachella Valley, the City of Palm Desert encourages residents to take advantage of local Cool Centers during periods of extreme heat.
When temperatures or the heat index reach 100 degrees or higher, designated Cool Centers are activated throughout the city to provide safe, air-conditioned spaces where residents can cool down, hydrate, and escape dangerous heat conditions.
Extreme heat can pose serious health risks, particularly for older adults, young children, individuals with medical conditions, and pets. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and check on neighbors, friends, and family members who may be vulnerable to heat-related illness.
