SCAG Launches Future Leaders Initiative to Empower Young Southern Californians
Applications Now Open for Civic Leadership Program for Ages 18–26

Young adults across Southern California have a new opportunity to develop their leadership potential and help shape the region’s future through the Future Leaders Initiative, a dynamic new pilot program from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG).

This six-month initiative is designed for residents aged 18 to 26 who are eager to build their skills, gain insight into public policy, and learn how local and regional governments work together to create long-term change. Applications are open now through Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

Participants will explore pressing issues such as transportation, housing, sustainability, and equity through interactive, expert-led sessions held monthly from January through May 2026. Most sessions will be virtual, with the final session taking place in-person on June 17, 2026, at SCAG’s office in downtown Los Angeles.

“Palm Desert is committed to supporting young people who want to make a difference,” said [Insert Local Official or PIO if desired]. “The Future Leaders Initiative is a great way for our local youth to grow their leadership skills, connect with peers across the region, and help influence how our communities grow and thrive.”
