Palm Desert Day Takes Flight at The Air Museum

Free admission to the Palm Springs Air Museum on May 2 for Palm Desert residents and workers.

Palm Desert residents and local workers are invited to explore aviation history up close during Palm Desert Day at the Palm Springs Air Museum on Saturday, May 2.

Sponsored by the City of Palm Desert, this special day offers free admission to one of the world’s top aviation museums, as recognized by CNN Travel. It’s a perfect opportunity for families, history buffs, and aviation enthusiasts to experience an unforgettable day of discovery.

The Palm Springs Air Museum features more than 91,000 square feet of climate-controlled hangars filled with an impressive collection of aircraft from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, along with iconic planes like the F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Bomber. Visitors can get up close to historic aircraft, explore interactive exhibits, and learn how aviation has shaped world history.

For those looking to elevate their visit, the museum also offers Warbird Rides for an additional fee. Guests can take to the skies in legendary aircraft such as the T-6 Texan or P-51 Mustang - a rare chance to experience flight in a true piece of history.

To receive free admission, attendees must provide proof of Palm Desert residency or employment, such as a California driver’s license, utility bill, employee ID, or business card.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 745 N. Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs.

Don’t miss this opportunity to step into history, learn something new, and enjoy a unique day out in the Coachella Valley.
