The City of Palm Desert is proud to join communities across the country in the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation, a nationwide initiative encouraging residents to take simple, impactful steps to reduce water use and protect natural resources.
As a desert community, water conservation remains a top priority for Palm Desert. The City continues to invest in projects that improve efficiency and reduce long-term water demand, while encouraging residents to be part of the solution at home.
Recent local efforts include a turf reduction project at Desert Willow Golf Resort, where removed turf has significantly lowered irrigation needs—saving enough water to exceed the volume required to fill the pool at Desert Surf. Along the San Pablo Corridor, irrigation system improvements have eliminated unnecessary sprinklers, reducing water waste while maintaining the area’s appearance and functionality.
While these projects make a meaningful impact, community participation is essential.
The Wyland Mayor’s Challenge makes it easy for residents to get involved. By taking a quick online pledge, participants commit to simple water-saving actions that also help improve water quality, reduce pollution, and protect local watersheds and oceans.
Mayor Trubee is encouraging all Palm Desert residents to take part in the challenge and make a difference.
