Free Shredding Event Returns to Palm Desert

City of Palm Desert offers secure document disposal May 1–2 for residents and businesses.

The City of Palm Desert, in partnership with Burrtec Waste and Recycling Services, will host a free document shredding event to help residents and local businesses safely dispose of sensitive materials.

The event will take place on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or until the trucks are full, at Palm Desert City Hall, 73510 Fred Waring Drive.

This popular event provides a convenient and secure way to dispose of confidential documents such as tax records, legal paperwork, and bank statements. The shredding service is offered as a drive-through, drop-off only event, and no appointments are required.

Accepted materials include stapled and bound office paper, glossy paper, photos, file folders, and envelopes. Paper clips are allowed; however, binder clips and notebooks will not be accepted.

Participants are limited to ten boxes per day, and boxes or bags will not be returned. To ensure safety, all hazardous materials—such as batteries and flammable liquids—must be removed prior to drop-off.

Due to its popularity, participants are encouraged to arrive early.
